My partner, David, and I were discussing design the other day. I know there are a plethora of books on design theory. There are also a multitude of design articles written, as well as a profusion of high-brow design discussions among the hallowed halls of the big boys. But, we still couldn’t actually define to our own satisfaction good design. It seems like there are so many styles, schools and theories, that who can say theirs is actually the best?

Our conversation led to a series of statements that seemed to ring true: design is passionate; design is elegant; and so on and so forth. We then relaxed into the game and whimsy set in: design became good for your health, sweet, powerful, whimsical (of course) and many other things, all of which invoked images in our mind.

The decision was then made to draw a series based on “Design Is”. David started with “Design is Good for Your Health”, which set the tone: sexy chicks! Since I specialize in pin-ups, the heat was on. My first contribution, as you see here, is “Design is Sweet”. Sugar pie honey bunch, man, that is Swe-e-e-e-e-et!

I just want to say that Inception is one of the most amazing movies I have seen in a long time. Christopher Nolan does it again and the soundtrack, actors, and screenplay are all remarkable. Beast Mode is a personal sketch that I got the urge to draw early this morning. We haven’t been updating our Design Deposit section recently but we sure have enough projects to fill up quite a few new posts. Beast Mode is a fitness inspired wallpaper for all of you gym-goers that feel that you take it the extra step when it comes to working out. You don’t just work out, you go Beast Mode.

We gave their brand a refresh to keep up with the times

A Advantage Safe and Lock is an excellent client of ours and after quite some time with an older design, they were looking to refresh their branding with a modern look and feel.

Developing the brand

Our goal was to completely revamp their brand and give it a creative, yet classy appearance. One thing that A Advantage Safe and Lock really wanted was to break away from the cliché look that most locksmith sites took, filling their landing page with a plethora of stock photos of related objects. They have the credibility and skill sets to back up their quality services so they wanted an “upper-class” ambiance to radiate from their website to better convey their high-quality and professional approach to business. We gave them just that.

We built a brand new web presence for a successful email marketing company

Execudex is an extremely successful email marketing company that continually provides extraordinary results driven by their high level expertise and database of professional prospects. The one thing that their successful business model was missing was a fresh branding strategy to convey exactly who they are and what phenomenal service they can offer. That is where we came in.

Logo Development

Branding begins with one focal point, the logo. Our goal for the new Execudex logo was to illustrate in a clean and professional manner what their services provide. Email Marketing. The obvious creative approach was to play with the words that formed Execudex – a fusion of Executive and Rolodex. Their service essentially provides access to an executive level database of opt-in business prospects. We opted for a traditional “business-professional” color scheme and used White, Light Grey, and Blue/Green to give a clean and corporate feel that many businesses strive to achieve.

Execudex had numerous goals that they sought to achieve with their website :

• Strong call to actions and eye-grabbing interface
• Usable and efficient design that fluidly provided important information
• Simple design to convey complex services

The primary method to achieve these results is a strong combination of a solid layout design with powerful colors. The Grey/Blue/Green color scheme translated from their logo to the rest of their new branding well and allowed us to use color focus and contrast to put an emphasis on key information and call to actions. We opted for a huge, contrasting banner on the landing page to immediately grab the users attention. Our primary colors then guided the user to the order-appropriate call to actions and content ensuring we get the important points across first.

Usable and efficient design that fluidly provided important information

With 100% W3C Web Standard Compliant coding, we built a strong website with key-content tightly knitted into a relatively small environment. Emphasizing on content organization and making the most of limited page density, we built each page with a “What does the user want to know, and how can we best reveal this information” mindset. The final result is a visual appealing, clean, and organized content structure that flows from key-point to key-point, while guiding the user step by step.

Simple design to convey complex services

To maintain a level of professionalism without crowding their important information with excessive bells-and-whistles, we opted for the minimalistic route and used their core content and color focal points to facilitate their service related information with a clean framework.

We designed a stunning logo for T&M Photography

Toni Smailagic, the creative photographer behind T&M Photography, commissioned Beta Images to build his brand. With experience and skill as the foundation for his photography, we had to develop a logo with the same professional and artistic feel his photography portrays, while maintaining an easily identifiable design regardless of the media format. Utilizing T&M as the foundation for the logo, we designed the logo with a simple, enclosed structure with enough artistic flare based on a camera shutter to set his brand on a higher tier of professionalism.

We built a stunning site for a new Reality Show

The IRS Hitman is a new reality show focused the helping Americans out of debt. The IRS Hitman is a previous employee of the IRS that has switched to the side of hope and now travels all over the US helping those in need get out of IRS Tax Debt. We built a site with strong visuals and put an emphasis on that rugged, “bad ass”, feel to further build on the persona of the Road Warrior here to rescue us all. From the logo to the full web site development, we went all out on ensuring The IRS Hitman’s web presence lived up hit name.
