Tutorial: Create a sliding drawer effect with only CSS and jQuery

February 18th, 2010 CSS, Tips, Tutorials No Comments

We recently launched Clothes Mates for Veronica McCain, an entrepreneur who developed an excellent product that allows you to quickly and easily manage your wardrobes. It’s excellent for those who like to stay organized or may be living in the fast lane. We built their entire brand from the ground up including their logo, packaging, and website. The works. One neat feature we included on the website was a dresser illustration on the sidebar of each page with sliding drawers. We are now adding a Design Deposit section!

February 18th, 2010 Design Deposit No Comments

It has been far too long since I’ve blogged but fortunately it is an itch I can scratch. Myself, like all designers, thrive off of design and it is the life force the moves us forward each day. Unfortunately, my outlet is often dwarfed by other priorities, but no longer! Our creative juices can’t be fueled off of logos, brochures, and websites forever. Now Beta Images is adding a Design Deposit category and we will be updating it frequently with any personal projects we are working on! It’s always nice to see a more personal side of your designer. Be warned, I have an interesting imagination so most of my sketches are kind of out there.

You can view a few preview images after the break.

Low Balling – The Illegal Fast Lane

November 13th, 2008 Tips 5 Comments

Low Balling

A definition of low balling, according to the Miriam Webster Dictionary, is to give a markedly or unfairly low offer ( lowballed him in contract negotiations ).  I recently encountered this problem on a freelance site that I was used to getting a decent amount of work from.  I had established a good reputation and had an excellent portfolio to back it up. I even have a specialty (illustrations and illustrated logos) that practically guaranteed me those types of jobs.
